DANIEL TURNS TEN
Daniel is suddenly ten?
His mother has loved him since when
he first saw this earth.
That sweet chubby girth!
This baseball star Mom’s greatest win!
TO OUR SON JONAS UPON GRADUATION
As much as we’ve always loved
Jonas,
his heart truly ours is to own us.
…..Upon graduation
…rebirth’s adulation
welcomes the new parent onus.
The child whom we raised to be daily
a happy and proud young man, gaily
….engaging our dreams
….for mere days it seems,
has seen heaven’s years above
melee.
MOTHER’S DAY FOR MARIEL
I never loved you more than when
you gave birth to our daughter Gwen.
My heart expanded then for two,
with one more coming. We love you…..
A LOVE NOTE TO MY BELOVED WIFE JOAN
Joan’s love long ago taught me
how women define a good man.
She lifted my soul when they told me
that marrying me was her plan.
Now we have two we created.
I daily am Joan’s greatest fan
because, as a mother, you showed me
how better to be Joan’s best man.
A love poem from parents to daughter on her birthday.
JANNA TURNS THIRTEEN
Our girl, yesterday in my arms,
is coming of age, which alarms
her mother and father,
who lovingly bother
to parent a teen? It disarms!
The soccer captain at ten,
a gifted actress and then
her musical talent
and scholarship shall not
deliver to any chagrin.
Together we gather to share,
whether red, green or purple her hair,
we’ve loved who you are,
our radiant star.
May teen life be daring; aware.
TO HARRY CHAMPLAIN UPON HIS RETIREMENT
It saddens up to lose a man
whose talents have mentored so many.
Our hope for retirement’s, by painting and golfing,
your heart’s full and torso stays skinny!
World travels postponed for a lifetime
are now at your beckoned port call.
You’ve many temptations to ponder,
no languishing dream to forestall.
Not one who has ever once known you,
Can say other than they’ve been blessed
To learn at your stead of the brilliance
You taught them to make their behest.
So please know our feelings are many;
profoundly cerebral emotion.
May this be your happiest best life,
where love is the only commotion.
TO MARCELLA ON OUR 25 TH ANNIVERSARY
Without you I’d be a lonesome hound
night scavenging for meaning.
Initially your beauty entranced me,
ardent glory dreams gleaning.
But to my surprise, you opened my eyes
To feminine beauty of mind.
This clueless disciple is your greatest fan.
Mine eyes see no other more kind.
Thank you for loving me, teaching me manhood
Is not about being a man.
You lifted my heart when you told me
That co-joining us was our plan.
Live long but, when we die knowing,
That few ever loved others more.
I write here my heart’s words bestowing,
Renewal to whom I adore.
